Allison Jaekle Awarded Second Place in the Binghamton University Alumni Association's 2011 Exemplary Student Award Competition

Allison Jaekle of Nesconset, NY, was awarded second place in the Binghamton University Alumni Association's 2011 Exemplary Student Award Competition. The award honors outstanding Binghamton University students and judged on criteria including involvement on and off campus, University knowledge, personality and communication, academic strength, honors and awards, and overall impression.

Jaekle, a history major, is a recipient of a Harpur Fellow Scholarship. She is also the recipient of an Allstate Foundation Insurance Scholarship, given to high school seniors in the top one percent of their class, and renewed each year students are enrolled in college and maintain a high GPA.

In addition, Jaekle is a part of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Alpha Theta (international history honor society), National Residence Hall Honorary, Sigma Alpha Lambda, and Phi Eta Sigma. She is involved with Harpur's Ferry, Chamber Orchestra, Student Environmental Action Coalition, Outdoors Club, and served as a vice president of Cascade Hall Government, as well as a Transfer Mentor in Hillside. She was a teaching assistant in the Decker School of Nursing. She is a third-year resident assistant in Hillside Community, and interning for the University's Environmental/Global Studies department and Office of Recycling and Resource Management.

Jaekle received a $750 award from the campus bookstore. The awards presentation will take place on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, in Binghamton University's West Gym.
