Ronald Ziemba has won the Binghamton University Alumni Association's 2011 Exemplary Student Award Competition

Ronald Ziemba of Cicero, NY, has won the Binghamton University Alumni Association's 2011 Exemplary Student Award Competition. The award honors outstanding Binghamton University students and judged on criteria including involvement on and off campus, University knowledge, personality and communication, academic strength, honors and awards, and overall impression.

Ziemba is an actuarial science and economics double major in Binghamton's Harpur College of the Arts and Sciences, and entered the Exemplary Student Award competition with a 3.9 GPA. He is a Phi Beta Kappa inductee and member of the Binghamton University Scholars Program. Ziemba is a transfer credit intern in Harpur Academic Advising as a third-time Faculty-Student Scholarship recipient. He has also been a recipient of the Sodexo Scholarship (three consecutive years), the Barbara & Allan Pollack Scholarship, and the Guardian Life Insurance Company of America Award.

This is his third year as a resident assistant and as a Hinman College Student Fellow. In the past, he has been a teaching assistant for the Department of Economics, a volunteer housing analyst for the Office of Residential Life, and a member of the Crew Team. Ziemba is a National Advanced Placement Scholar and was salutatorian of his graduating class at Cicero-North Syracuse High School. He intends to pursue a career as an actuary, and has completed three actuarial exams and a summer internship in the field.

Ziemba award carried full tuition for one semester. The awards presentation will take place on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, in Binghamton University's West Gym.
